About Me Now collecting Pro 10 cars. Had a old Blackfoot in 88. Then 89 raced a Kyosho Ulimate Pro & took out 3rd place in my club for my class for the whole year, that was with missing 3 points meetings. In 92 I got my 1st Pro 10 & found the Pro 10's & 12's fun cars. I love the simple design, so basic, yet so much to know about them. The why & how is what blows my mind on the Pro 10's & 12's.

Saturday, February 6, 2010, 08:51 PM AEST [General]

As some of you guys know, and might have seen in some of my pics I have a nice "Black" Bolink sport 91 car.   Well the other day I got a nice touring car body (ute body) for it & have just fitted it to the car today...

Looks dam fine & will be better when I swap the rear axle(s) from the two Bolinks (need to swap them due to the off set - wheel sticks out too far) I also am looking & thinking of ordering a NEW axle/diff for the display car (the Bolink axle is needing replacing/worn the hubs out).  It's only for show for now BUT it will be made up & ready to run in the long term.

The body has mounts comming out the front bumper (something different).

Have now found Bolink parts can be brought in NZ.

Monday, October 26, 2009, 10:42 AM AEST [General]

If you have read most of my Blogs you will know I love my Bolink (pro 10's).   The other day I found a shop in NZ that sells Bolink body shells,  so I called them & they can also get Bolink spares & cars in too....

I have found a body that will fit my car & look really cool too at the same time...   All I have to do is save & get it then get the flames & paint...  We all know what it's like to get a new body shell & how much work goes into them....

One of my Bolinks has some diff parts missing & I need to get those to turn the car from shelf queen to runner (if I was wanting to run it).

Still trying to find the right parts to repair the old runner that I had the mis-hap with in my video.   That looks to be off the runner list for ever as I have since found that it was a LIMITED edtion of Bolink cars...   Oops didn't know that until after I had damaged it... Been using for many years...

Once I get a body & get it all painted I will post a few pics of it...

Catch ya all again soon.  :)

    Just been told....

Sunday, September 27, 2009, 08:26 AM AEST [General]

I have house contents insureance.   I went in and told them about my 3 main hobbys (pc repairs, tramping, Rc cars).

They told that the Rc cars is replacement value (old for new is what we have).  What they said is they  will need proof of what I have and full detail list...   I told that have this pages & sounds like that us proof enough for them...

So the next thing I will be doing is uploading all new photos with much greater detail of all the parts I have at current time...

I think that we all should do this (where a each of us have home contents insureance) just to cover the in case anything happens...

I just wanted to make you all awear of this...

    Comments/thoughts are welcome.

p.s.  the other two hobbys of mine are market value only...

My old school cars are growing...

Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 01:27 PM AEST [General]

I now have TWO whole bolinks that are able to be used with only very slight mount of work.   One needs the diff setting parts (still to find).  Other needs a replacement part (but My temp fix MIGHT be okay for a short run IF needed!!!)...

Neither has radio gear fitted but,  are full rolling chassis.  I am planing to make a BIG change to one of the cars by how the rear end moves & put a 10L pivot point in where the old Bolink users a screw/tower slide bar setup.

So all up I have 3 cars that can run (in total)  I will only keep it to just the green one for now as that is my runner & goes so well...   Also it's too hard to get parts for the others...  Too rare to find in NZ.

I also have loads of other parts that is starting to look like car number 4,  but that is a great way to keep all the parts/screws together so that they don't get lost or chucked out (by the wife, lol)...

I will try & get some photo's sometime soon so that I can update my page(s).

    Catch ya all soon.  :)

Need some advice... Re Foam tyres.

Sunday, January 11, 2009, 06:37 AM AEST [General]

As most of ya know I am into my old school pan cars,  they only use Foam tyres & I have a new set of dounts that need to be mounted (guled) to my rims.

I have always brought pre-guled foams/rims in the past.   Now I find myself in a whole new place that I have never been to before.

Has anyone done this in the past & can tell WHAT gule is best & what I have to think of in order of not having massive stuff up...?...  I have read the thread the other day of what Not to do,  sounds like good light & loads of time are musts?

Any comments and thoughts are really welcomed.

    Just had a 2nd Run with 10L

Thursday, January 31, 2008, 03:02 PM AEST [General]

I took the car out for another run & now have the diff running right,  almost have it on the sweetspot/G-spot,  needs the slightest touch to drop it back...

I also have NEW tyres on the front & the car runs in almost stright line,  pulls to one side with TOO much power (diff adjestment should fix that) !!!  It's really funny to watch when I puch on the juice!!!  If I had the diff any tighter I would be power sliding sideways (almost drifting)...

I had a Oops today,  was comming back to the car (real car) & I misjudged the speed & slide the car in the rear tyre of my car... So now I am going to clean the rubber skid mark off the front of the body...  Good thing is that no REAL damage was done...

I think the car must of been doing around 60kph when I found the tyre (oh crap?)...

The car does run & handle nicely,  I think the pod limiter is helping,  slows the amount or want to turn end for end!!! Thats a great help with this TYPE of car...

Well, thats all for now,  still thinking of droping the motor out for a service/clean...  Have to get some cutton buds & some spare time...

Well,  thats me for now,  catch ya...  Comments/thoughts welcomed.  :)

    1st run of the Rc10L

Monday, January 28, 2008, 04:59 PM AEST [General]

The car runs well,  the speed is too much,  MIGHT look at droping a lower speed motor in,  I am thinking the 16 double needs a overhaul.  My batts can't handle the motor (was 2nd hand off trademe),  also the diff ratio is way too high (3.13 to one).   I wasn't able to open it right up,  I had used about half the trigger,  could get alot more speed IF I had the steering sorted...

Still have to get the steering 100% stright,  I have now put NEW tyres on the front...  I was thinking the old fronts had wear on one side & are rather stuffed.  Might of been the reason why it was not wanting to go striaght....  I am going to glue the splits in the rear tyres... (New tyres have a been put on in sections)  the sections need to be glued together...

Also still to get the diff set on the RIGHT/SWEETSPOT,  thats what I call it,  there is a G-spot on the diff that I am needing to find...  Too loose & the car sits spinning the diff,  too tight & the car drives on the right wheel only (pulls to one side) ... Hence why I had to adjest the diff... Also DON"T try to items from your pockets while driving a Rc Car (I did clip the kerb)...

I am happy with the way the car drives,  I have also put a rear-pod limiter in place & hope that makes it better for driving... Thats easy to take back out IF I need to...  It should make easier to drive in a striaght line, it is to limit the sideways movment when the car corners,  as I am not racing it should work well for me...

I might have a another run again sometime,  BUT that won't be filmed...  Not to sure when that will be,  I might also drop the motor out & have play,  clean it (via taking the brushs out).  I found the 10L is much harder to drive than the Bolink ( I want my Bolink back).

I will have a few more plays & get the car  handling the way that I like...

I also have found a easy fix for the Bolinks broken pivot point that I smashed,  I have put a bolt into the hole with a few "O-rings"  & placed a nut on the top of the lot...  It allows the swing that is needed & stops the whole T-bar for flopping around...

I am NOT going to use that car again,  after almost writing it off in the crash that I had that ripped the wheel off the car...

Well,  thats it all for now.  All thoughts/comments welcome as always....  :)

    Oh BUGGER!

Wednesday, January 16, 2008, 07:59 PM AEST [General]

I'm getting my wife to type this blog as I want the whole story to come from her angle.

We headed out tonight to do some filming of the car in action as we've had a few requests to do so.  Hubby was behind the wheel (of course) and I was behind the camera, trying desperately to keep up with him (too bloody FAST!).

Everytime I just got the car on screen, he'd take off again and I'm left staring at empty carpark...lol.  I pan left quickly, to see him doing donuts and the like and then taking off again and I'm trying to figure out (through the video camera) just where he has got to!

I find him turning around a wee way away and then he races back down (again, I'm looking at empty carpark).  I'm whipping the camera around to catch up and CRASH....the car hits the kerbside (hubby didn't turn car in time to avoid it - going too fast).  We got a lovely camera shot of the wheel afterward.

Now, I know it's perfectly normal to stuff your wheels in the process of racing your car.  But I know you are not meant to crack the hub in half so it comes right off the rim!  The crucial pivot point under the T-bar is also snapped in half (we only noticed that when we got home - the other half must still be in the carpark somewhere...).

So *BUGGER* pretty much sums up tonight's antics...  (Will try and get some photos/videos up soon)...

Me here NOW,  adding in the photo & my own comment(s),  my wife did a good job.

Now the damage that is unseen (piviot point) is where the thin black box is... I will take a photo or that ONCE I found the other half of it... (if I can find it)!!!!   Going to get a new parts made up when I see my cusin... He will be making me a few parts at this rate, LOL!!!

I have pulled all the radio gear out of the Bolink & even the alloy axle & put them all into the 10L which I am going to make my runner,  I know that I can STILL BUY parts for that car... Also there are number of around in NZ so I can always find another one for the shelf later(s)...

Anyway,  my plans are to get some more new parts & make a NEW 10L up out of all my spare parts (that will be the shelf Queen)... That is my long term plans (for now).

    Wow!!! Help??? I"m shocked!!!

Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 11:00 PM AEST [General]

    http://www.gearchart.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=chart.create

I have found this site on a forum,  I am not using trademe as much these days...  I am now looking around for anything Rc related...

After entering my cars pinon/spur gears & the Dia of my tyres (60mm)  I was blown away with the speed that  my car is meant to be doing... I had to guess that the motor is pulling out 25,000 rpm's...  The speed was something like 80kph...

I then changed the spur gear & left the same pinon on,  the speed was then 90kph... That is just bl**dy nuts & I know that it is NOT hard to do....

My wife is now KEEN to get the video camera out AFTER she found a OLD video tape that has her Ex-hubby on it & wats to wipe him out of her life....  He he....

We are in for some bad weather for the next day or two,  but the weekend looks to be fair & I shall grab her & the camera & have a run at the school...   I will also take a change of tyres for they do wear FAST where I am going to run... Last time I did a short run I had to spent ten minutes with a couple of paint brushs cleaning the car out of foam tyres (dust)...

Well that is it for me now... Catch ya all laters.  :)
